Welcome to Prairie Grove, Arkansas
Located in the Northwest corner of the state, Prairie Grove offers the charm and simplicity of small town living combined with many amenities you usually find only in larger cities.  This unique combination stems in large part from Prairie Grove's location.  While our town has only some 2800 residents, it is located only 10 miles from the Fayetteville-Springdale corridor. This area boosts a population approaching 100,000 people and, as a result, offers many of the advantages and services of larger cities.
Clothesline Fair Parade in Prairie Grove, Arkansas      Prairie Grove itself offers many attractions and services to its citizens. Located on the edge of town is the Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park which celebrates the Civil War era Battle of Prairie Grove.  The Park has a headquarters building with historical displays and maps as well as period outlying buildings.  The park area provides delightful walks, beautiful scenery 12 months of the year and a reenactment of the battle every other year.  On an annual basis the park serves as the host for the Clothesline Fair (Crafters application info), celebrated during Labor Day weekend. This fair is one of the largest and most successful craft fairs of the region.                 Click Pics to Enlarge
Aquatic Park with large pool, kids pool and water slides      The Public School System in Prairie Grove is superb. Academic requirements are high and a robust sports program is also available. The school buildings are located on a campus at the north end of town and are not more than a 5 minute drive from any place within the city limits.  School buses serve the outlying areas and generally provide, as school lets out in the afternoons, the only thing that even approaches a traffic jam in our little community. The city has opened an Aquatic Park within the last 2 years that would be the envy of many larger towns. There is a large pool, a children's pool, play area and water slide.  Next to the pool is a new city park which features several ball fields and walking trails.
Anna Holmes Dorman Prairie Grove Library, Arkansas      The Anna Holmes Dorman Library is a new and modern facility, featuring not only the usual round of books and periodicals but also several computers for access to the internet.  Next to the library building is the Fire Department, also housed in a new and modern facility.  Prairie Grove residents enjoy insurance rates that are among the lowest in the state due to its Fire Department having received a Class 3 ISO Rating.  Located on the edge of town is a small industrial park with room to grow.
Historic Architecture in Prairie Grove      Housing in Prairie Grove is available and affordable. As a small, as yet 'undiscovered' community, housing prices tend to run 25% to 45% cheaper than in many of the larger communities in the area.  Homes range from stately old Victorians thru quaint 1920's cottages and into the latest in home building technology.  There is a lovely Historic District, several neighborhoods of 20 to 40 year old homes and several new subdivisions right on the edge of town.  All of this is located in a charming little town with a noticeably low crime rate, friendly people and hometown service from our merchants.
Recreation at Lake Wedington just North of Prairie Grove, Arkansas      As one moves out from the edges of town, you can find many things to do. Within 3 miles of the city limits, there are 2 fishing lakes.  Prairie Grove Lake, 3 miles to the south, is a small lake restricted to boats with no motors. It supplies much of the city's drinking water and some good crappie fishing.  Three miles to the west is Bob Kidd Reservoir, home to a Bass Fishing Club and some very nice size bass. Prairie Grove also sits in the middle of good hunting country. There are several seasons each year such as bow, black powder and modern gun.  About 20 miles to the south is Devil's Den State Park featuring a small lake, canoeing, fishing and some of the most beautiful walking trails you will find anywhere in the country. About 20 miles to the Northwest is Lake Wedington, yet another superb outdoor recreation area.  Just to the east of town is a new golf course with new homes lining the fairways.
Fayetteville, Arkansas      As noted earlier, Prairie Grove is only 10 miles southwest of Fayetteville Arkansas, which provides a whole new set of entertainment choices.  Fayetteville is home to the University of Arkansas, with all that a university town has to offer. Restaurants, movies, plays, concerts and collegiate level sports abound. Fayetteville is also home to the Walton Arts Center, which has several annual concert series.  There are horse shows, fairs, craft shows, trade shows, historical societies and clubs of all sorts to keep you busy for weeks.  At the same time, you are only a 15 minute drive from your quiet home in Prairie Grove.
When it comes time to travel, that is not only possible but convenient.   Prairie Grove is a 35 minute drive from the Northwest Regional Airport (XNA) with daily service to virtually any spot in the country.  The region is also home to several corporate headquarters such as Wal Mart, Tysons and J.B. Hunt. To the northeast of Fayetteville is Beaver Lake, the largest lake of the area, offering yet more in the way of outdoor recreation.
Finally, we have a superb health care system.  Fayetteville is home to the Washington Regional Medical Center, housed in a large and brand new facility only a 20 minute drive from Prairie Grove. A further 5 minutes down the road is the Northwest Regional Hospital located in Springdale. Both facilities provide state-of-the-art health care. There is also a large VA medical facility in Fayetteville.
With its unique combination of small size and proximity to larger cities with big city amenities, Prairie Grove offers the perfect spot for people wanting to experience the pleasures of small town living combined with the convenience of big city services. Visit us and see for yourself.  We are populated with 2800 of the friendliest people you will ever have the good fortune to meet.
