Prairie Grove itself offers many attractions and services to its citizens. Located on
the edge of town is the Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park which celebrates the
Civil War era Battle of Prairie Grove. The Park has a headquarters building with
historical displays and maps as well as period outlying buildings. The park area
provides delightful walks, beautiful scenery 12 months of the year, and a
reenactment of the battle every other year. On Labor Day, the park hosts tens of
thousands of visitors the annual Clothesline Fair, one of the top arts and crafts
venues in the South.
Within 3 miles of the city limits there are 2 fishing
lakes. Prairie Grove Lake, 3 miles to the south, is
a small lake restricted to boats with no motors. It
supplies much of the city's drinking water and
some good crappie fishing. Three miles to the west
is Bob Kidd Reservoir (map), home to a Bass
Fishing Club and some very nice size bass. Prairie
Grove also sits in the middle of good hunting country. There are several
seasons each year such as bow, black powder and modern gun. About 20 miles
to the south is Devil's Den State Park featuring a small lake, canoeing, fishing
and some of the most beautiful walking trails you will find anywhere in the
country. About 13 miles to the Northwest is Lake Wedington, yet another
superb outdoor recreation area. Just to the east of town is the Golf Club at
Valley View with new homes lining the fairways. To the northeast of
Fayetteville is Beaver Lake, the largest lake of the area, offering yet more in
the way of outdoor recreation.
We have access to a superb health care system. Fayetteville is home to the Washington Regional Medical
Center, housed in a large and brand new facility only a 20 minute drive from Prairie Grove. A further 5 minutes
down the road is the Northwest Medical Center and Willow Creek Women's Hospital, located in Springdale,
and Mercy Health System in Rogers. These facilities provide state-of-the-art health care. There is also a large
VA medical facility in Fayetteville.
Prairie Grove is only 10 miles southwest of Fayetteville, Arkansas,
which provides a whole new set of entertainment choices. Fayetteville
is home to the University of Arkansas, with all that a university
town has to offer. Restaurants, movies, plays, concerts and collegiate
level sports abound. Fayetteville is also home to the Walton Arts
Center, which has several annual concert series. There are horse
shows, fairs, craft shows, trade shows, historical societies and clubs
of all sorts to keep you busy for weeks. At the same time, you are
only a 15 minute drive from your quiet home in Prairie Grove.
When it comes time to travel, that is not only possible but convenient.
Prairie Grove is a 35 minute drive from the Northwest Regional
Airport (XNA) with daily service to virtually any spot in the country.
The region is also home to several corporate headquarters such as
Wal Mart, Tyson's and J.B. Hunt.
